Papaya is mostly sweet in taste with a bit of muskiness to it. However, if it is over-ripe, the muskiness becomes strong and it does not taste as good as before. Ripe papayas can be consumed uncooked after discarding their skin and seeds. You can add some lime or lemon juice for added flavor or you can use ripe papaya in the salad, bake it with bread, puree it, make a smoothie or juice with it, or you can use it as a dessert or as one of the components in a dessert as it is sweet in taste.
